2017 Hoosier Auditions Results, District C Indianapolis

 

The Indiana Music Teacher’s association is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2017 District C Auditions, held in Lilly Hall on the campus of Butler University, Saturday, April  1, 2017. Thank you to Catherine Kling for her hard work in coordinating Indianapolis’ site. 2017 IMTA State Conference Call for Proposals

09.25.2017 update: Proposals are no longer being accepted for the 2017 conference. Please check back for the 2018 call for proposals.

Proposals for the 2017 Indiana Music Teachers Association state conference are due 12:00 midnight, Eastern, May 24, 2017. 

The conference will be held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN on Friday–Saturday, September 29–30, 2017.

We are seeking proposals on all aspects of music, including music teaching, learning, creation, performance, career considerations, scholarship and other areas of interest to independent and college music teachers. Proposals may be submitted in one of the following formats:

Indiana Student to Compete in National Performance Competition

IMTA congratulates Maya Kilburn, WINNER of the East Central Division MTNA Performance Competition in Junior Strings!

Miss Kilburn along with her collaborator and father, Dr. Ray Kilburn of Ball State University performing the following works:

  • Sonata No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 105, Movement I
    Robert Schumann
  • Scherzo-tarantelle in G Minor, Op. 16

Maya will now advance to the MTNA National Performance Competition, to be held at the National Conference in Baltimore, MD. The competition will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

Former Butler Collegiate Member Wins MTNA Studio Fellowship

Congratulations to former Butler Collegiate Chapter MTA member Karen Lien, winner of the Mary Sue Harris Fellowship, awarded annually by MTNA!

The $3,000 grant, funded by the MarySue Harris Endowment Fund, is presented annually to a recently graduated independent teacher who demonstrates commitment to the music teaching profession and outstanding studio development.
