These grants are provided through the national MTNA Foundation Fund. A variety of grants are available to MTNA members and non-members alike, as well as affiliate organizations.

Teacher Enrichment Grants (up to $750)
Teacher Enrichment Grants of up to $750 are available for private study, specific college-level course work or projects in performance, pedagogy, music theory and composition. The grant is not intended to be used to pursue course work toward a degree, for travel funds or for ongoing projects. The number of grants awarded in any year is determined by the number of qualified applicants and available funds.
Below are a few projects that have received grants in the past.
- 12 hour-long lessons with premiere bluegrass fiddler Annie Staninec
- Attend the Smithsonian Folkways Certification Course in World Music Pedagogy at the University of Washington
- Learn how to make clarinet reeds from tube cane
- Attend the InterHarmony International Festival in Aqui Terme, Piedmont, Italy, as a piano performance participant
Affiliate Enrichment Grants (up to $750)
The purpose of these grants is to provide financial assistance of up to $750 to any state or local affiliate for the purpose of professional development, continuing education or member involvement.

- Host teacher and national presenter Kristen Yost to present “The Pop Recital!: Making Music Come to Life at a Recital Everyone Loves,” on Friday October 12, 2018
- Collaborative Piano Day
- All-day presentation featuring composer Philip Keveren
- Website re-design, advertising/marketing materials and new logo design
Collegiate Chapter Enrichment Grants (up to $750)
The purpose of these grants is to provide financial assistance of up to $750 to MTNA Collegiate Chapters for the development of the Chapter’s presence in the community through projects offering educational and professional development for collegiate members, as well as support and promotion of music in the community.

Community Engagement Grants (up to $750)
Community Engagement Grants focus on programs and projects that bring together MTNA teachers, students and the local community, and focus on projects that engage the community in making music, appreciating music, or attending live music events. These grants, of up to $750, are available to local and state affiliates, as well as individual teachers who are current MTNA members who wish to create a local community project. This grant is not intended to provide operating funds.

- Bringing Music to Rural Montana
- Music Alive! in the Yakima Valley – Collective Songwriting Project
- Ukulele Club at Pleasant Lea Middle School
- MTNA/Boise State Subsidized Music Lesson Program
- Noteworthy Students – Noteworthy Students raises funds to continue private violin lessons for current scholarship students and adds a new student to the scholarship roster each fall
Program Development Grants (up to $5,000)
Provides “seed funds,” of up to $5,000, to assist in the creation of application materials that can lead to larger funding from other organizations. Program Development Grants support Pillar One of the MTNA mission: “Engage the Public,” by supporting programs/activities designed to “increase the number of all people making and teaching music.”
